That's true. I wanted to be supportive without pushing her toward one model or another. When she bought her last car, the '01 Buick Century that she just traded in, she really wanted a Chrysler 300M. I pushed for the Century because it had similar features but cost several $K less. She admits that it's been a good, reliable car and has no specific complaints, but it was never really what she wanted.

Another dozen hours without a Death Chat post. I know I keep referring to how quiet it is, but it feels like I've landed on the Swamp Rat forum by mistake.

We were all waiting for you to wake up. I'm on my way to Reno to drop off the knives that didn't sell when I was hosting the DOTD for HI. I rented a car and didn't even get out of town before the first one, a Ford Escape, died. They swapped it out for a Hyundai mini SUV. We'll see how it does. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

Good luck on the trip. My brother has a Hyundai Elantra sedan that he bought as basic here-to-there transportation -- he likes it a lot.

I drive a '96 Toyota 4-Runner. It's a pseudo-SUV; whereas most 4-Runners are 6-cylinder 4WD, mine has a 2.7 liter 4-cylinder engine with manual transmission and is rear wheel drive. It isn't as powerful as I'd like, but it does well enough under most conditions (although it's poor on ice) and gets good gas mileage.

The weather has turned cold here -- it's been very overcast, looking a lot like it might snow. A few days ago temperatures were in the 70s, now it feels like Winter is biting in. The forecast says it's 40F now and will fall below freezing tonight.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the well wishes on my recovery and all. After the 12 weeks of recovery or so I have to have my left arm/hand done and go through it all again...fun, fun, fun! At least then my right arm/hand will be in good shape for normal day to day functions.

By the way, do any of you guys own a Busse BAD? I have been thinking about picking one up to put into my EDC fixed blade rotation. I have come close to buying an AD many times but I just felt they were too thick for EDC. It seems the BAD would be perfect. If any of you have one I would love to hear your impressions of the knife.

I bought several BADs and have recommended them to others any chance I get. If you plan on very hard-use, like prying open crates, then you'd want an AD. However, if you want an EDC slicing knife in INFI, the BAD is an outstanding choice -- I've even recommended them for soldiers/marines. I didn't buy any Culties because the BAD cuts just as well, and I prefer the AD handles; they fit my hands comfortably, but are still fairly compact.

I assume that you've read the write up on the Busse Company Store Knives page, but just in case, there it is.

I fell last year (running after my dog and my foot slid out from under me). It's probably a good thing I was on grass rather than concrete or asphalt, but the damp grass is also why why foot slid. My right elbow hit the ground first, which jammed my arm into the rotator cuff hard (I'm over 300-pounds and was sprinting, the impact was hard enough to spin me the opposite direction and I ended up with a left-side bruise extending the entire length of my torso). For a while, I was using up an 8-oz tube of Ben Gay on my shoulder almost every week and there were several positions where the arm couldn't support any weight. I've only recently gotten full range of right arm motion without pain or popping in my shoulder. It can take a long while to recover.
