We older JYDs are such a tender hearted lot. OF COURSE YOU SHOULD GET SOME GUNS! How could anyone called Magnum not have at least one S&W Model 29?

I take it NJ is'nt a gun friendly State....but is the paperwork that bad?

What's it like in Jawja HD? Can you just go into the shop and walk out with the pistol or do you need concealed carry permits or whatever?

Funny thing about the USA. Most of the best firearms are made in New England, where gun ownership is severely restricted. Here are some crappy night shots of my new 44 SPL Night Guard with tritium front sight and scandium frame.



It is just a bit bigger than a K frame .38 spl, with a lot bigger hole!

Last I heard its basically impossible to get a carry permit in NJ...and hollowpoints are illegal...

Since I have a permit, I just walk in a buy one. I have to fill out the ATF forms, but I don't have to wait for the background check, which usually just takes a few minutes when the system is working well. I have had a carry permit since 1971.

I like the proportions and calibre choice on your S&W HD.....do you have some speed loaders for a 5 shot cylinder? Looks a good carry option for being out in low light/dark conditions...good round the garden....etc...

It is amazing how some States vary on firearms laws....no wonder Magnum has a downer on lawyers....and yet the judiciary might be the only obstacle to stop the new politicians in government making gun ownersip harder for all....guess you need to pick where you live carefully if you want to enjoy shooting....which States are the good ones?

Horn Dog, I'm looking at the chambers there and they're grayish? Just fouling? Or some byproduct of the coating to make the exterior black...

Since this is a new model, I don't have any speed loaders. This is just for personal defense. It's about as big as I care to carry. I have some big autos if things should get really hairy. I think NY, NJ, MA and CA are among the worst States for gun owners, but the laws vary. Nevada is good, according to my brother. Oddly enough, in Vermont you don't even need a permit for concealed carry. Or maybe that was New Hampshire. Somewhere way up there.

Well I haven't cleaned it since shooting. The cylinder is stainless steel.

It might. I have a Bulldog, too. Maybe I'll get a speed loader and see. Not being a gunfighter, I've never needed a speed loader. I got the Bulldog Pug earlier this year. I wish it worked as smoothly as my S&W, but no way. So when S&W came out with their version, I had to try it. I am partial to the brand. I guess for increased firepower I could just carry three or four revolvers, like the outlaw Jose Wales. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
