what we need is to expose children to different things. in this day and age the video game usually rules all.

I remember wasting alot of time at school, effecient would be better.

What bothers me is kids coming home with hours of home work. Also, obese kids? They would live longer better lives with some work in that area too.

I'm ran track for one semester in HS...made varsity as a sophomore then quit so sports were not my deal. Every ap/gt/honors class that was available I took. Lol, that wasn't my deal either <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />.

Schools that eliminate athletic programs have missed the boat though. That is the only reason some of those kids are in school at all. Also, something about the coaches and the teams have an ability to provide alternative homes that a class room can't provide.

No I think they are underpaid...see the first part of the comment. Teaching is just so specialized a field to start in, that usually you do it because you like it. Because thier are students who make the tough days worth while.

I think teachers make okay money. The average teacher has an above average income in our area. They make as much as a nurse in less time per year. Should nurses be paid more too?

My college profs bitched about what they made. When I found out what they made I knew why my tuition was so expensive. They got paid very well.

if i ran the country, my priorities would be education, military, and free market, in that order.

i don't know the details of obama's plan, so i can't comment. i do know that teachers will inflate grades if it will raise their compensation. they will also teach better if that raises their compensation. kinda puts my first and third priorities together.
