I'd like a kalamazoo and when the Delta finally dies maybe I'll upgrade. As for now, the Delta works great.

Oh, has anyone messed with the Outdoor GPS units you can get at BestBuy? There is a Garmin Colorado and another more basic unit.

ribs?! wheres the BBQ?!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Yummy. Saturday was BBQ'd wild bison ribs. Very tasty. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
How does bison ribs compare to beef ones? I have had bison burgers and steaks before but not ribs?

I haven't had ribs that weren't wild in ages, so I can't really make an informed comment. Personally, I find good wild game a lot tastier than beef.

I think the biggest thing is that wild ribs can be extremely tough if you don't age them and cook them right. These ones hung for about 3 weeks. To cook them, I first boiled them in gingerale for about 6 hours. I then covered them in a half and half mixture of ketchup and bbq sauce and baked them at about 350 for another couple hours. Final step is then a quick trip to the grill to give them the bbq edge.

Consume!

mike,
you & i will get along very well!

Speaking of bison, or buffalo for those of us in the western frontier, has anyone ever hunted them? When I say hunted them I mean in the wide open where they are not used to being fenced in or use to humans looking at them?

I have always wanted to hunt one but I want to do it in the wild, have the mount on a wall, and a robe made out of the hide--not to mention enough meat to last the year.

I've got a friend who shot one. There really aren't any "wild" buffalo left I don't think. It was a cheap hunt IMHO, less than a thousand bucks if I remember correctly.

Getting that hide tanned and meat processed would be more expensive than that.

No wild bison left? There is an open hunt here each year for the wild ones. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
