Yep. She's all done. I hacked up a slab of hickory and slathered it in mineral oil for a stand. I'll get pics up in a min.

nice. i was thinkin of rippin off your idea for a friend. cake's pretty soft, though, so i was hopin to just skip the heat treat.

Yeah, I thought about that too (no heat treat), but I wanted her to use it for other stuff as well if she wanted.

I screwed (#4-40) and epoxied the maple on, and filled the screw heads with epoxy to keep junk out of them.

The hickory turned out better than I had hoped. It was originally a tree that I'd cut up to use for smoking. I salvaged a spool of it and it had really great color.

that stand is sick. hot knife too.
