Latest slate grinding.
[Linked Image from momaw.kikaimegami.com]

The left is striking for the amount of "barbiness" it came out with. The one on the right is a fairly normal style, just made a little bigger and with a lot of time spent rounding all the edges; very satisfied with its "fit and finish". The middle one is an experimental point, where each edge is only flat-ground from one side. The attainable edge sharpness is higher (the stone got so thin that I broke off that long chip during sharpening) but the way the two planes meet at the front necessitates a secondary, fairly obtuse, angle to make the point. I was thinking that maybe it would be quicker to grind them this way, but in reality it takes a lot more than it does to do a convex from both sides.

"Cutting pictorial"? You mean you want to see slate cut something? Or you want to see how the points were made. :P
