I completely understand your dilemma snotpig. My wife only know of half my knives and she still wants to kill me for my purchases. But I love the NMSFNO, definitely a wonderful and beast of a large blade. I have an NMFBM, but I will never bring that anywhere without a packhorse or a car. The NMSFNO is about as big as I could ever backpack with. Maybe try offering your wife some extra gifts or a big favor. Usually if you let the lady of your life know how much you really want something, and show sacrifice, they understand. If not, like my brother in law said...."Just do it and apologize later."
