Glad to hear things are improving. My Mom recently found out that she was diabetic, and I know what a hardship it can be.
The cell phone is a great idea, but I am not sure I can handle the cost...she talks like her mother <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
Thanks for the idea

You can even do it with prepaid phones, so that she doesn’t use too many minutes, and it’s not too expensive. Here’s some info:
DIY GPS trackingDIY GPS tracking with "disposable" phones - Mod a GPS enabled Nextel and fauxjack yourself...or your car, or your kid, or a big dog, or an elephant. We really, really want to track an elephant. Mologogo is a free service that will track a "friends" GPS enabled cell phone from another phone(gps not required) or on the web. It currently works on pretty much any Nextel phone with Java and GPS - even a $60 no-contract Boost Mobile phone.
DIY GPS tracking with Mologogo - reviewEarlier, we posted about the DIY cheap GPS tracking service Mologogo, you can get a cheap $60 pre-paid boost mobile phone, register on the site, download a Java app and you're pretty much done. The phone will transmit your position to server (Uses Rails, Linux, Google Maps) and you/your friends can view where you are at in real time. I've hacked up tons of solutions to do the same thing, and this is simplest and cheapest (pretty much free if you have the phone, or $60 if you go pre-paid + 0.20 / day).
