Snotpig, I bet that one blade with the deep belly will make an excellent skinner. Peeling the hides off of a stack of deer on a cold day can be work. That surely would make the job alot more fun.

That one is Rainwalker's design. It's got a great feel to it even though it is in the very early stages.

Speaking of knife making... I hand grinded a knife with a file some years ago. I used the drill out of the knife method. Drill out the outline and then filing it was no fun. Took me months to even get close to it looking like a knife. Guess what? I didn't even get to heat it it since my 10 years old cousin came to my shop one day and he said he "lost it"...

I've "lost" several knives. Hopefully it's being used and not thrown away. All that hard work down the drain. eeeeegh! For shaping, I use a dremel rotary tool (with cutoff wheel) for making the small hatchets (so i can get the most out of the steel blank) and a bench grinder with a 8" cutoff wheel attached to it for just about everything else.

Thanks. Have you been grinding lately, mag? just turned the sander on for the first time in a while. thinned and convexed the white FRN endura. I'm learning to use the new grinder. Using it for the first time was like I'd never touched one before in my life. I guess it takes time to develop proper muscle memory for each one. Speaking of spyderco, I (the mall ninja in me ) really want a civilian...
