New knife, I think this is #5. Gift for a friend. I know the shape is a little.. suggestive. But it's pretty practical.

Yeah? I tend to not expect people to be too impressed, seeing how crude such knives are. I mean, there's chips and irregularities, and there's tiny dents in the edge. But then, even this tiny knife took a good while to grind out of stone since I'm doing it all by hand using other rocks (and sand). If I used a bench grinder and belt sander, I'm sure I could make a more regular one, but that's not really the point...

Maybe 5 or 6 hours split over a few sessions. My arm starts cramping up something fierce after a while of grinding. I've refined my technique of bashing the rough shape out, so I got down to the general idea of it pretty quickly and then it was all refining. It would have taken a lot longer if I had to grind it out of a featureless plate!

If you want to try, just check in with your local landscaping shop for slate pavers. Stuff is common and cheap.

Pretty long time. Do you have any in-action-pics?
Itīs interesting stuff <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I did a stone-axe once when I was a kid

Had to google for "slate pavers" haha
Without Google.se and lexin.nada.kth.se I would have big problems <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Which is why I like this...luckily I own the BG.

Now I just need to get a fine set of pants for it. I wonder what all sheaths would fit this?

Now how would you guys recommend drilling a thong hole in the back of the guard? Maybe it needs to go to a machine shop? Surely they could do it while I waited? Or should I just buy a long drill bit and carefully give it a try?
