What is a good multi-tool? A local knife shop has a Leatherman Wave for 50, some other one for 40, and a Swiss Army one for a 100. My old Gerber from the early 90's needs to be replaced and the SOG version that I had is now with my brother some 900 miles away.

I like the Juice series...they can range from very small for focused use to all-in-1.

P, that is good so how many S5's are you up to?

LOL...just one man.

Blade seriously blew my money away. I don't have credit, so everything with me is cash.

I spent $2,000 on my blade trip. Long story short, I need to sell some stuff.. lol

Best Buy doesn't pay THAT well, at least at my level.

Enjoy every sandwich.

I would stick with the Wave, mostly because they have one-handed opening and locking knife blades. That's a pretty significant feature in my book. But then, I have the old one, not the the one with the weird nut drive attachment. I don't personally see why the heck you'd want a nut driver on a multitool, since you're limited to either carrying a single bit or carrying a box of them around. And if you're doing that, why not get an actual ratchet and socket set.

My father has a Swiss Tool, and it feels a little more solid in terms of build, but also far less comfortable than the Wave since the handles aren't rounded or anything. Plus the lock seems to lack authority.

Haven't used a Gerber tool, can't comment on it.

but i guess i done doing i blade at a time. i wish i have 2 scrap muk and now 2 m9le. i think i'd rather get them and sell them at my cost later than to wish i had gotten 2.

and i like mines scrambled...

I have a gerber legend and like it a lot, but I got mine when they first came out, and I've heard rumblings of quality control problems in more recent runs.

The legend's one hand opening knives are really nice, but frankly the knife is the least-used tool on a multi-tool for me. The only REALLY good knife on any multi-tool I've ever used is the one on the funky Spyderco tool. I'd much rather carry a Spyderco Endura and a multi tool, or some sort of fixed blade in place of the spidy.

I understand, I teach school and we are in the 48th pay scale in the US. I love OK, but I can not move away due to my parents ill health.

I was pretty impressed with the Wave. I might have to stop by there tomorrow and look at it again.

True, I think most people on this forum have, shall we say, "More Serious" knives on hand. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

So we are 4-6 weeks away from starting to see some S5s in peoples' hands. That is going to be pretty cool!
