Morning guys
Mag, a bud of mine was going nuts trying to remember who made the sword. I will tell him it is OKC.

What did it cost?

I see Jerry has done a big post as to how the SAR4 Double Cut version came about. For people like me who would have chosen to buy this version all day and every day for $297 as against the SAR4 LE for $420...and bought the LE version based on the description of a "one off never to be offered again"...etc...this whole smoke and mirrors thing of how knives are offered through the company store where you don't know what models are coming and which ones will suit you best is a real serious "disappointment".

If you allow for what is paid on import duty I cannot even sell my LE version and re-coup my costs to justify buying the D/C version with a view to selling the LE on. It would be cheaper to get the LE version BB/DC....

I seriously hope this "suprise...suprise" method of marketing is never used again...you just feel totally annoyed when the knife you want costs $297 and the knife you got for $420 will need more money spending on it to make it compatable to the $297 version...

I agree big time steel fan - if I had bought the original numbered LE, and then saw the later DC model, I would have been FURIOUS. The numbered limited stuff does exactly squat for me, as I'm a user, not a collector, but you never know what's gonna be offered, or how many models there will be. Drives me nuts.

Thanks for the condolences MM....when I read Jerry's post I had to think long and hard about whether I should post a response...decided against it...when your're really annoyed it is best to keep silent till you get over it. If I was Stateside I could rotate the two and have the version I want without taking a huge hit...the price seems amazingly generous for the D/C version...maybe my earlier posts on this issue might have been noticed and they decided at this price to give people the chance to "rotate"...it is unusual because there is a lot more work in these than the Satin versions...so they must be less profitable...but being abroad just cocks up this chance with the duty side of things...plus the value on the exchange for the LE will have gone down a lot with all the other "Satin" models...another "gripe" given that this is the first Busse knife to have multiple "Satin" versions...usually these are solely LE versions...and that side of things was wholly unexpected.

Talk about feeling "stung"....rotating would cost me at least $200...it's just not worth it...and my LE has had a fair bit of use...so it's not "as new".

I really love the double cut finish, but I hate the useless choil on the sar-4. I SHOULDN'T feel tempted, but that new INFI smell is always tempting, even on a knife that's not an optimum design for me.

Sometimes I´m just guessing when I translate from swedish to english <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> LOL

I'm always humbled by how well other nations speak english on top of their own native languages. Most of the young Scandanavians I know write more intelligently than young Americans I know. :P
