I now have about 30 minutes experience with the DF and it sure seems to be everything that I was expecting. I spent about 20 minutes chopping a pine tree that had recently fallen down. I know that pine is a soft wood but it was the first target that presented itself. As expected the DF made very short work of the tree.

Anyway after 20 minutes of that the blade was filthy with pine tar and scuffs. I brought it back into the house and washed it with warm water and soap. It cleaned up real well. Then I gave it the paper cutting test (I did not test it before chopping). It cut paper very smoothly and evenly with no snags or grabs. Not too shabby.

Overall first impression: <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Tom. I do understand your excitment, the DF is a very impressive piece of work. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> I just hope that they give me a chance to pay down the credit card before the LE comes out. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

I got mine yesterday, with three sheaths.

Now my FBM CG and EU-17 Magnum have some decent pants (the EU-17 rattles around but it's good enough).

I though the Dog Father was going to be very close to the FBM in shape but it's not. It's a lot lighter and the point is quite different.

I still think the choil is kind of ugly and it lets your finger move around but it's a chopper through and through, there are not many reasons to choke up on it.

I can't wait for the LE's.

Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.
