The lady, like half of the modern America population, is a complete tool.

You know, this whole knife thing I think is payback for getting that whole firearms in national parks thing passed. Those bastards! What firearms thing are you talking about? Sorry, I must be out of the loop, as I am relatively new to guns.
Enjoy every sandwich.

I was very relieved at work today - I pulled out my SR Vex to cut up a pear, and no one seemed to freak out. You never know - especially when starting a new job, which I did recently.
I remember carrying a swiss army knife to class with me in elementary school - by the time I was in high school, there were zero tolerance policies and you'd be expelled and charged criminally if you showed up with a pen knife on your keychain. Even here in Atlanta, anything over 3" is illegal. Its stupid. What ever happened to self-sufficiency and preparedness? I was taught, from the day I was old enough to carry one, that a knife was one of the most important things you could have in your pocket.
I just hate the knee jerk OMG THATS A WEAPON reaction people get when you pull out a knife. I'd rather attack someone with the folding chair next to my desk, pro wrestling style, than get close enough to try to stab them with my puny Vex

You can carry a loaded firearm whilst at a national park. Obama had to sign to get that whole credit card deal. Democrats were pissed but he was like "Whatcha gonna do, we's runnin outta time."

I'm still mulling over getting a belt sander, but I gotta admit I find a couple hours hand-sanding blades to be almost therapeutic after a long day at work analyzing data and writing papers. I know what you mean. I am really looking forward to it, myself. I guess I can practice on a kitchen knife. I'll start with the sandpaper and work to the strop. Those Harbor Freight machetes are pretty good to practice on. They have a good length so you can keep going if you mess part of it up and they're only like 5 or 6 bucks. I sanded on one so much I ended up with a paring knife when I was done. I think they also still sell the cheap $8.00 survival knives. Thicker practice material if you don't mind stainless.

Wanna guess how? Hint: Bass Pro... Bass pro shops are sea hags. Ha! More like sirens. They call to you with infinite amounts of goodies and even let you touch them, play with them. It's credit card suicide.

I took Vic's advice and bought the Tramontine machetes instead of the ones at Harbor Freight. They are just as cheap but much better quality. Made in Brazil. Just FYI. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I bought them to practice on my belt sander with.

People obsessed with tools as weapons don't understand that there are plenty of every day things, including bare hands, that can wipe them out if the wielder is trained and motivated. But, it's easier to target things that they just can't relate to, or make them feel bad. That's how they seem to "think", after all: very primitively, almost like they are driven by an undeveloped child's perceptions.

Recon, I would love to see pics of a machete morphing into a paring knife!
