Literally. It has this sweet, somewhat musty odor. If I hold it up to the light, I can see that there's a transparent film on most of the blade and the top of the handle, as if something spilled on it. Did a rat sneak into the Yard and christen some of the knives?

No worries though. I'll just wash it off with soap and water and then take it out to do some chopping after work. But I'm curious if anyone else got a scented one.

We use a light oil to wipe down the blades but it does not smell to my knowledge.

It may actually be the oil that I'm smelling. It does have that "sweet" smell like WD-40, but not exactly. I have a very sensitive nose. Anyway, it's going to smell like oak tree sap in a few hours.

Rich_S, do you have jealous dogs in the neighborhood?

i've heard of folks getting bottle caps, drink coasters, keychains & other trinkets in some Wauseon boxes.. but this is too funny!

Is it that new Res-C smell? I noticed I could smell the Res-C on the handle of my CT when I got it. I never noticed with my other knives, I was guessing since it was made recently before I got it.

Hmmm...I wonder if the scented ones will soon command a premium on the secondary market. I'm not letting mine out of my sight.....err....smell.
