I would be tickled pink if Dan/Renee made a SY folder like the ZT. Or maybe like a mini SOD
oh god yes, a mini SOD Folder! That would be great

Hi, everyone. Hope all is well. I have completed my write-up of my first impressions of the Chopweiler. Now I just need to figure out how to add the pictures to the quick review.

actually picked it up late Thursday at the post office. Bad weather kept me from evaluating it on Friday. Chopped on Saturday. Had a lot of fun. I did manage to give it a very small chip on the sweet spot while chopping through some hard pine when I hit the core. I think I sharpened it out, mostly. I am not sure if I sharpened correctly: it looks nice and the edge feels sharp but it doesn't cut hair off the arm.

I chipped my first piece of SR-101, which also happened to be my first Bussekin blade... but I tried to baton it through a hardened masonry nail embedded in a well seasoned birch log ![[Linked Image from farm4.static.flickr.com]](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3389/3451115164_533298125e_b.jpg) ![[Linked Image from farm4.static.flickr.com]](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3333/3450298609_52b232a4a3_b.jpg) ![[Linked Image from farm4.static.flickr.com]](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3619/3451113992_e3a1484d55_b.jpg) Took me a while to sand that out by hand on a mousepad, but she was shaving sharp at the end of the story

I have some dents similar to that in my DFLE from the same thing. They're a little deeper though and are just in one spot. they're not completely gone (waste of steel and time to completely sharpen them out) but are smoothed out now and don't affect it at all! nice work MM.

there is nothing more haunting and beautiful than the "Into The Night" instrumental on the Twin Peaks orchestral soundtrack. Esp cranked on a Harmon Kardon amp and Paradigm tower speakers. Her voice is chilling and haunting, yet beautiful...
who did kill Laura Palmer anyways? the whole TV series (filmed here and in the Pacific northwest) is a blur on my mind, so long ago.........
kinda of a weird night tonight, listening to some music i have'nt heard in a whole........got some good and bad memories flooding back.....

I liked twin peaks. Sounds like Bushy is contemplating another beer induced loud evening so that he can say hi to the local police dept?
So, as I try to convex the blade, should I still be able to get a hair shaving sharpness? Maybe my technique is off somehow...

I'm not sure what you are asking, CR - if you are asking if you should be able to get hair shaving sharpness in the middle of the reprofiling, then no... at the end of the process, though, you should definitely be able to get it shaving sharp.
The key is to use light enough pressure that you are working up a burr on one side, before flipping it over... and then get a burr on the side, before you step down to a finer grit, or eventually to the strop.
A lot of people who are first starting on the mousepad technique push WAY too hard, which leads to the sandpaper curling up and rounding off the edge you just created. The weight of the knife is usually all you need for the final sharpening. Feel free to use more pressure during the heavy grit reprofiling stages, as it'll help remove material quickly.
