well the mac's still my main machine. the netbook came loaded with xp, and i think i'll leave it on there until XP dies, which it will. i already have ubuntu netbook remix setup to boot from a usb drive but it isn't persistent, so every time i boot i would have to reinstall flash to visit youtube.

i am now working a usb bootable persistent ubuntu 9.04 and these downloads are slow. brings back memories of the dialup days.

I remember our first modem, from ~1976. It was about the size of a TV, and you had to lay the phone on the modem's cradle with the microphone.
