What I like about the Glock is, it is disposable. It holds 13 rounds of .45ACP, It works all the time, it is real easy to use under stress, and I would not cry like a bitty girl if I lost it. I would whine like a boiled duck if I lost one of my Novak 1911's, a CZ, my Thunder Ranch .45, etc. The Glock is but a tool, like a swiss army knife or a leatherman. My other toys are worth far more to me.
Unsub, I got my Wife an over/under for Christmas. The nicest wood I have ever seen on a non-custom weapon, nice birdies or some such nonsense carved on the receiver. I got it at "Dick's" for a mere song-and-dance. Do you guys got "Dick's" stores up by you? They are running a special on hard-chromed 12 Gauge mossies, with a 18" barrel.

In Canada you will probably be charged if you shoot someone in self defence in your home even if he is an escaped serial killer. You will have a much easier time in court with a wood and ducks Remington 700 than you would with the exact same Remington 700 with a black synthetic stock and a tac light etc. Self Defence is not considered a reason to own a gun or carry a knife BUT if you happen to have one for what they consider a legitimate purpose and need it for self defence you can use it. To the average sheeple black guns =evil death machines but wood= nice hunting rifles like grandpa had. For example the FN Fal is a BLACK semiauto .308 and it is prohibited meaning most people can't have it. The Norinco M305 or Springfield semi version of the M14 is a WOOD semiauto .308 and is perfectly legal with a basic hunting PAL(liscence). The Norinco version is actually banned in the US is just as good as the Springfield version and only costs 400$ You can also get all the evil black stocks and even Sage gear that you can for the M14. Does this make any sense? No but we are going to keep quite and by some cheap M14's before the antis figure it out. Here is what the not evil M305 looks like. ![[Linked Image from img1.putfile.com]](http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/3/6602154590.jpg) Here is how I plan to mod an M305 when I get around to getting my PAL. ![[Linked Image from img1.putfile.com]](http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/3/6603043386.jpg) I rather like this camo job. ![[Linked Image from img2.putfile.com]](http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/8/23814375048.jpg) All the mags have to be pinned at 5 on centrefire rifles in Canada except Garands (8) and Enfields at 10. That's one major reason why I have a Enfield based Parker Hale. Other than the PH I really only NEED a 12 gauge and a decent .22. I will probably pick up an M-305 because they are such a steal and in case they get banned.

The M-305 looks like the way to go. I actually like wood, as opposed to synthetic. ZI am planning on getting a nice wood stock for my M1A socom, when I have some spare money. I had been planning on going synthetic on my garand scout rifle, but the wood looks so sharp, I could not bring myself to do it.
Oh, Unsub, In the Golden Compass, the 'good guys' use a motley collection of weapons, including various enfields like my favorite, the Jungle carbines! You don't often see them in films.

I may just have to run the gauntlet of kiddies and see it. Enfields and armoured polar bears are like my idea of heaven.
It is to bad you Yanks can't get Chinese weapons. They make tons of cool stuff like the WW1 Pump 12 gauge with the bayonet that can slam fire and an SVD in .308 400$ M14's and 1911's. They are all rough but releable and perfect for the type of person who likes projects. CGN has a battlerifles page that is basically all about modding the M305. The second best place to buy them is here in Prince Albert. Here they are always in stock but 500$ while Marstar is almost exactly like buying them from the Yard but at 400$. Still 500$ is pretty good compared to what a basic Springfield one costs.

Unsub, I have a shotgun similar to the WW1 one, but an original. Just like the one they use in 'The Mummy'. They do sell the Chinese copies here, but they pale in comparison, when seen side-by-side.

Gotta love the .45ACP. I came up on the 1911. Now however, I carry a G26 or Kel-Tek P11 in 9mm. Both hit where aimed and carry well concealed. That said, if I could afford and justify the purchase of another pistol, I'd opt for the Glock G30 or, maybe, the seven shot G36.
One of my clients is a Houston cop and he swears by the HK in .40. So many choices, so little money.

Good one Andy,
yes I do love my XD I have proably just under 1k rounds in it so far and not a single jam of any type, even with cheap wall mart and one wolf ammo.
For my next firearm purchase I really want to get a project gun, like a shot gun to turn in to a super HD, or a turn a Mossin Nagant in to a Scout rifle, or get an older pistol and clean it up maby parkerize or gunkote it.

I love project guns. A short Mosin would make an awesome scout rifle and the ammo is the cheapest centrefire ammo on the market. Wolf is even making a good version of the soviet sniper round designed for the SVD that is still half the cost of sporting ammo and quite accurate. I want an Enfield based scout with the ability to clip load ,10 round mag and a decent 4X sight.
