That is so close to what I was thinking with my Enfield project it is scary. I was even thinking about the synthetic ATI stock. I might have the scope on the mosin over the bolt unless i is possible to clip feed them(I don't know much about them).
Being able to get huge boxes of surplus ammo and even cheap sniper ammo is sure a good excuse to go with a Mosin. Plus that is probably a 300$ project.
I went and read the article and it was very good. He went a lot farther than I thought and had to buy a couple different scope bases so it was more like a 500$ project but still quite cheap. I was thinking surplus FMJ ammo might work well for when you don't want to destroy to much of the hide. I have been considering a Savage in .223 so I can shoot gophers and coyotes etc and use milsurp ammo. Coyote fur from the winter is warm and great camo.
Thanks for posting that article ,I really enjoyed it.

Bramel, Nice scattergun! Mine is the civilain 'riotgun' version, as opposed to the trench gun. No bayoney lug, no heat shield. But, it unscrews in the middle! I love a take-down shotgun. I had wanted one ever since first seeing 'The Mummy', on my honeymoon in Florida.

Roo has one heck of a milsurp scout. It is not a bolt gun but other than that his Garand .308 is an awesome Scout rifle.
Bramel and Roo could probably outfit a prety decent militia just between the 2 of them . I would happily be a lackey in the BramelRoo militia just to play with their cool toys.
We could even have James Bond as our intel officer

A lot of people find the militia movement scary but to me it seems like the 35 year old version of building forts in the bush with your friends.
Personally I love the idea of the Scrapyard militia and nominate Vic as our Genralissmio?

The Socom 16 is by far my fave semi auto. I will make a canadalegal M305/Socom18.5 clone one of these days. 18 inches is as short as you can have the barrel here but for some reason really short shotguns are totally legal so long as youbuy them that way.
