I haven't been around in a while and since I had the Dogfather out for a workout today, I thought I'd post some pics. This piece of wood was so hard that an axe would bounce out. I broke a few batons but had a great time taking chunks off.

Almost through.

It went through the skinny log like nothing.

Cleaned, sharpened(sandpaper then leather strop)then oiled ready for next use.

Rock on bro - that is excellent. I love batoning with my DF. Looks like you're taking some homemade 2x6's outta that!

Thanks for sharing. Great stuff.

Maple is the second strongest wood ,second only to hickory and much better looking. That looks like some nice dense grain you have there ,no wonder axes bounce off. I would definitly save that for some woodcrafts.

That is awesome! The Dog Father in it's real element.

I did something similar with a HRLM this summer. The log was proportionally the same size. Fun isn't it?

That is some nice large rounds of Maple, better hang on to some of that. You don't have your location tagged with your aviatar. Where you at?

Its good to see that you are not afraid of using your knife. For such a big piece i would use axe, but thats probably because i still dont have my DF.

I always hate splitting Maple and Oak because they're so hard and knotty. That DF makes it look like butter!
