Thanks guys, I've carried the YK in a basic kydex sheath for a couple of days now and its a good EDC as I suspected.
I have long been wanting to carry a FB every day and was looking around for one that met several criteria.
It had to be quite small, for obvious reasons;
The handle had to be fairly flat, again to make concealment easier;
I wanted a blade that was 4 inches long, ideally;
It had to be what I like to call 'practical/tactical', ie, able to handle any situation that may arise.
I was originally interested in the Howling Rat Little Mischief, but the Yard Keeper met all my criteria and was a little more affordable.
I'm glad I made the choice now, as the Resiprene-C handle makes for very comfortable carry. I tend to wear my knife under a shirt, next to my skin, and you want a handle material that won't chafe. The Res-C is excellent in this regard. The design is very practical all round, and I have plenty of confidence in the blade, given its obvious strength. I could put a better edge on it, I'm sure, if I had a belt grinder. But the edge I got with the Sharpmaker is not bad at all.
The sheath is critical on an EDC, for obvious reasons, so although I have a perfectly functional kydex sheath already, I'm getting Rainwalker to make up a leather one. a) I prefer leather when the blade is satin and b) I feel a great knife deserves a great sheath.
Jeff is doing quite an interesting design for the sheath, so I'll be sure to take some shots when it gets here (eventually). On that note, sorry I haven't put up pics of the YK yet, but Xmas and other events have been conspiring against me.
Mark
