I have already priced snorkels. If she makes it through the torure I put her through, I will be a happy camper most likely with a snorkel. I hope it makes it through ok at least with out anything major. You know what Jeep stands for... Just Empty Every Pocket. There is always some new gadget to buy for them.....LOL

The biggest danger when water goes in the intake is hydrolocking, if that happens your toast. You said you drove it three miles afterwards so chances are after a complete fluid change you will be ok. Do you have your diff vent lines extended up into the tub? if you go onto www.jeepkings.ca they have plans for making your own snorkel. I once buried my old 1980 toyota pickup so deep water was splashing over the hood. the only long tern damage was the passenger door rusted bad. My brother tried to open the door instead of climbing out the window to through a strap to my buddy

Well I picked up a DFLE and that's probably the last knife I will be buying in quite some time. I really hope I get that package before my wife does or else I may be in a world of hurt. I said I would have pics of my Jeep run and I do. One pic. I may have totaled my Jeep in an unlucky water crossing. I should find out tomorrow if I got any water in the intake which will may spell the demise of my Jeep. I had just crossed this going the other way and my dad did as well in his Jeep (as well as a few other vehicles) and the water was about 8 inches, standard fair for a lifted 4 wheeler. For whatever reason, I hit a soft patch of silt on the way back and within about 30 minutes the running water removed the silt from underneath my tires and my tub was filled. It took 2 V8's to pull me out 3 hours in to this ordeal. I drove it out to a garage after I drained the tub of water. It started after sitting in the water for 3 hours. I could not believe it. No one was hurt and that's what matters but my stomach is still in knots after watching my Jeep fill with water and not being able to do a darn thing about it. WOW...venture where most fear to tread or in this case swim Amazing Dan

How is you jeep fairing? I hope it is up and running! My dad is driving up there today to talk to the mechanic about the stuff he is doing. Hats off to my dad for handling all this while I am working. What a big help.

Well I got her back about 10 minutes ago and the Jeep is about 80%. The starter was replaced because it was filled with sand and basically trashed from me starting it in order to get it out. The diffs, trans and t-case fluids were replaced as well. The axle bearings were repacked, the rear drums were cleaned out as well. There is about an inch of sand in the tub and it smells like a pair of dirty socks, but it seems to be ok. There was no water in the gas tank. The bill was around $800 which is much easier to swallow than a totaled Jeep. Thanks for the support guys.
