the sample is too small to be statistically significant.
Not neccessarily. I think the statistc sample is sufficient to indicate a higher percentage would prefer the "NEXT" knife to be CG.
But, although I feel we have established this now, I do feel Void's comments are fair and relevant as well:
I think the guys here ..... probably want a CG now due to the last few releases being LE's.
..... implying many who want the "next" knife to be CG might still want LE knives at a later time.
I don't think the guys here want Dan to never produce an LE again, nor move away from SR-77
This poll only indicates what people think of the above mentioned options provided, the rest is pure speculation.
----------------
For my money, I'd prefer it if Dan never makes another LE .....
I wish you would stop saying this! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />
I don't "wish" Dan would quit making CG (for you and/or others who want CG) and I HIGHLY prefer and want "Satin" (assuming a good price....) - (I don't care about "LE" so much as "Satin" finish! - But, if Satin finish equates to LE here then I guess I like LE...)
I would personally buy LE over CG EVERY time "If" the prices for LE are fair and reasonable over CG. If LE prices are too high, I will strip a CG myself... and probably fuss about it while doing it... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
But, the problem I see and have run into is that we don't actually "Know" what will be released after a given LE or CG is released.
Ideally, Dan would release BOTH CG and LE at the same time and post prices for both so we can make informed purchasing decisions.
Short of that, the next best solution would be for Dan to announce "for certain" a CG or LE version will follow a given release and post prices for both at the initial release of a new design.
I purchased a DM because I had no idea there would be an LE to follow.
I skipped the Dog Father, because Dan did announce an LE to follow - But, I was worried for a long time.
If it makes you feel any better Bruce, there have been more CG's over-all than LE's in spite of you pointing out what the last 3 have been LE.
Yes there was an LE YK, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a CG version some day.
But, so far, there have been three knives released only as CG and not LE: Yard Guard, Yard Hook and SS4 (compared to only one LE model not released as a CG: Yard Keeper) - By using your math, I might be able to say: "there have been 3 times more CG's than LE's..." .... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Heck - If I had my way and the only options were CG, at this point I would rather just have the option to buy the blade with heat treat and no coating, handle and pin. I will finish the blade myself (PRIOR to assembly and stick the handle on when I am done. -
Then,
- I could save money (Hopefully - as a kit like this SHOULD cost less than a finished CG
- Finishing the blade myself would be easier, faster and result in a better finish as I wouldn't have to work around the handle. - stripping the coating is almost too easy to mention time saved for that. But, by not coating, it would save Scrap Yard some time and cost and save me a little time and cost as well....
- And I could have an LE knife!
Keep in mind that if an LE can be made less expensively in a CG version without sacrificing performance, then the LE by definition does not represent the "maximum performance to price ratio". That's not my opinion. It's a mathematical fact.
..... er? ... uh?... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> - I will just not comment...
