I have to agree with Chuddy on it being to big and awkward with anything bigger than a Swarden attached to a DF or Guard sheath. I have a leather sheath with Dundee strap planned for my DFLE and intend to attach 2 snapps to the middle so I can have a matching leather(or kydex) swarden sheath attach and also be removable.
Then I can attach anything I put the 2 matching snaps on or not have anything without it looking wrong. You could even add just the other part of the snaps when you are just using the DFLE on it's own so it looks natural.
I have given this a lot of thought. The snaps should be plenty strong enough and were used on old school police tac vests.
I have a great concealex(like kydex but better) sheath for my Hookguard and either zip tie it to my pack or stick it inside the pack with the clip at the end of the sheath attached so when I yank the knife the sheath stays in the pack and the knife comes out.
