Reconseed,

The DFLE came and is now gone. They all sold in about 3 days or so.

Unfortunately, you just missed this offering by a couple of weeks.

The DFLE was officially released December 5th at 9:04 pm Central time.

Swamp Rat (Eric) seems to be selling his knives in batches lately. But, even then you never know how many batches there will be and when the last batch will be. Sometimes you see a few batches and then they are done.

More often here with Scrap Yard - all of the knives are sold at one time. I guess Dan gets all the knives at once then lists them all at once.

We have seen some knives sell out in minutes, some hours and some a few days. But, I assume the quantities vary quite a bit as well. It seems Dan may have made quite a few of the DFLE's, but they are all sold.

Sorry you missed.
The DFLE is one of the premier choppers ever released by Busse, Scrap Yard or Swamp Rat.
For the record, to me, the DFLE has a very similar feel, balance and weight to my Battle Rat. But, the DFLE is about 0.625" longer.
Because of the different grinds, the DFLE is lighter and faster. The original Dogfather was heavier in the blade.

If you really want one, these things will sometimes make themselves available...

i have to disagree. i was so shocked at how fine this knife is. when all i saw was a pic online, i thought "eh, not sure i'd wanna pay $200 for this."

if i had held it in my hand, then told the price, i would have bought two. i would have paid more.

i also couldn't believe how light it was. i had to check the steel, must be somethin wrong, so i gave some old hard wood a whackin and sure enough that edge stayed true.

did i mention this is th sharpest large knife i own? a slicer with guts, comfort, and beauty.

i can't believe i got such a premium knife for so low a price.

Mag - I agree - this is more than a $180 knife. I had figured they'd be $225-235 and that was before I realized how beautiful they are in person. Mine isn't going to replace my CGDF, but if I didn't have a user Dogfather, I would have surely wished I'd gotten two of them. I'm blown away by the amazing job Dan did on these - clearly, he didn't let the clock phase him and he took the time he needed to deliver the pinnacle of Scrapyard Blades to us, just in time for Christmas.

Glad you got yours.

(Is that a Cricket in the first pix? I was looking at a Salsa today (woops, Taiwan!) and another little Spydie that had some kind of handle scale lock mechanism. I didn't like it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> On even more of a side note, when the wife and I met James Bond and his family today, one of the first things that James said was "I love your wife's Spyderco!" when he saw her Pink Delica sticking out of her pocket! He had a nice stainless handled Endura with him that looked well loved. Anyways, off of my tangent now...)

I like the spydies as well. The SS Endura or Police is one of the best concealed carry folders on the market. That little Cricket looks like a box opening wonder.
You can usually find a SS Endura for about 70$ in VG10

I had no doubt about the DFLE as soon as i saw how good the MuttLE was compared to the regular MuttCG. I forget how much the DFCG was but the extra 30 or 40$ for the satin finish is worth it just because of how much easier it is to fix. I think the shiny ones are better users although I would kind of like shiny and sterile.
Shiny rules.
