Those are some impressive curls for such a big knife!!! That is really a good test for sharpness. A knife not up to the taks will break off the curls.

Looks like cedar?

Yep, it was just a piece of cedar I had sitting next to my fire pit. I wasn't really sure how easy it would be to make a fuzz stick with the DFLE. The sharp blade and smooth finish really let it glide through the task.

That package took a long time to get there.....glad it arrived safe and sound. I hope they provide you and your family with many years of service.
