Dan, I love the finish on the Mod7 and was hoping you could advise on how to do it for those of us at home.

Blasting cabinet with what size glass bead (or whatever other media is used). Also, the 'double cut' term, I assume you are using two difference sizes of grit, one after the other?

Lastly, have you done any experimenting with other finishes that may work well with SR77? (for example cold blue?)

Thanks.

+1 on whether bluing works on Sr77? I would like to do my YKLE and possibly a DFLE.

Ironballs way to go on the Modding I hope you keep at it. Your clip was inspiring me to do mine. So it will be your fault if I screw it up
Seriously though you have done a great job so far and I can't wait to see how far you go with it.

We know from Bramels clever bluing of his Swarden that 52100 works although I could have guessed that from the makeup of the steel. S7 has more Chromium so it is iffy.

I just realized Dan and Patti have said they will be gone for a few days

I'm curious about the meaning of the term "double cut" too.

I'd love to experiment with bead blasting, sound like fun!

Double cut is 1st sandblasted and then beadblasted. Gives that nice buffed look to the sandblasted finish.

And I thought sand was fairly abandoned as a media... Thanks for the info...
I will likely hit harbor freight soon and get some supplies
