Never had a Yard warranty to use but I did need one once for a SAR RAT. I got it sent in due to a friends persistence (thanks 360). And a few weeks later it came back all happy. It was my first Rat and still lives with me. I will NEVER sell or trade that one. Thanks you SRKW for upholding your warranty. As the others above stated, get ahold of Eric. Really.

leatherface, yeah i brought the other one and will post pics over at ranger.
emf, i love it and if you want something over their all you have to do is imagine and pay for it and its yours.
bld522, your right.another thing i'm worried about is that i hope they dont want to try and fix it.maybe you cant tell by my crap pics but their is a huge chunk that is half the thickness of the blade that is gone.and you cant grind it out without taking 1/2 inch of the blade.that aint gonna work.it was my favorite piece and it happened the first time i used it when i was never going to use it in the first place.
i wish i had never used it but im glad that i found out while in my back yard than while i was 2 hrs from my car.
a lot of people are telling me to contact eric.i figured the best way to do that was to do my post.should i call him on wed.

It is way better that you found out about the flaw rather than having it happen in an emergency. I think the reason Dark jedi's took so long was because they did not have any DFCG's left. I would like to know what happened with that one actually?
Occasionally there is a flaw with the steel that you can't see until you have used it a bit. The japs used to polish their blades not just for appearance but to try and find those flaws. The DFCG's that were flawed all came from the same batch. I think it was Ed Fowler who mentioned that when he bought raw steel he would have to take the "bark" off because the outside of the steel was not perfect.
I would hope that you would post your pics of the Crash rat here. It is made of S7 so we all are very anxious to find out what happened and I don't get to the Swamp as much as I should. I would love for Scrapyard to make a traditional hawk head.
I thought this was another toilet incident. Andy bashed up his Crash rat pretty good on an old toilet. I (and Andy obviously) would have thought you could break one easy but when you think about it cermaics are very very hard ,even harder than steel so it really messed up the edge.
Good luck with you warranty and remember Busse has a great rep and won't want to do anything to ruin it. They even fixed a guys knife when he shot it with a 30/30 if I remember correctly.

Unsub - I got a brand new Dogfather within in several days of my post on the forums. They simply did not have any available and had to make another one.
The blade still had 80% of it's cutting edge available and would have most likely still been useable in a emergency.
Busse family has the best warranty in the business.
P.S. I actually had the defective Crash Rat, but it was replaced. It was cut from the same steel plate.

Northern,
The interesting thing (to me) about your Crash axe is that the Crash Axe is also SR-77.
Swamp Rat first used SR-77 for the Crash Axes prior to Scrap Yard being created.
From your photos of the edge of the Crash Axe, it looks to me to be the same type of bubble failure that has happened at least twice with Dogfathers.
I have to wonder if this "Bad Batch" of SR-77 was all from the same lot of steel blanks.
In any event, flaws can happen in such a way as being hard to detect from the factory. Pretty much ANY knife-maker is subject to having a given knife with an undectable flaw or weak spot.
The Great thing about Busse is they have a great documented track record of GREAT warranties.
I have witnessed a few Busse and Swamp Rat warranties as well. They have all been taken care of. There was even some guy (I will refrain from calling an idiot because Eric requested me not to...) who used his Rat Trap to pry ice chunks with. The Rat Trap is made from S30V which is not well suited for prying.
Eric replaced the guys Rat Trap even though most people believed the knife had been abused / used in a way that the Rat Trap shouldn't be expected to be used.
I don't want to say there were many other examples - because over the years considering the number of knives sold, there have been a VERY small percentage of defective knives that needed warranty work.
I beleive Jerry at one time said he averaged less than 1 INFI blade warranty request per year. - ...... But, the larger percentage of INFI blades appear to be safe queens compared to SR-77 and SR-101.
INFI may be super tough, but apparently too expensive to use for most. INFI seems to mostly be an investment commodity.
