I just sent out a few PMs, but I want to get feedback from the dogs before Monday.

I received a Leatherman Wave for X-Mas and was just putting a lanyard on it. I discovered that the washers that are holing the knives, saw and file actually turn. I put my fore finger on one side and my thumb on the other, squeezed and they turn.... Both of them. Is this supposed to happen or do I need to return it.

I just wanted opinions before I call on Monday. I love Leathermans and they have served well over the years.

Thanks for the feedback!

Dan

I have one of the old style Leatherman Waves (before the bit holder). Just checked it for you. The washers don't turn. If it's a problem leatherman will take care of it. I sent a tool back to them to replace a broken blade. They replaced it free of charge and no questions ask.

They are supposed to be very good with their warrenty. I will give them a call on Monday and sort it out. I just thought it strange that it turns. I would tighten it myself but the hex has a stub in it preventing tools from fitting in it. I read that these are supposed to be cemented in place.

I cannot get a bit into mine, either. Retarded monkey screws.

My Surge turns a little, but it's snug so I have to really want to make it turn.

You can get those bits pretty easy. I picked up a whole big set of weird bits from Harbor Freight or somewhere, they've been real handy to have on more than one occasion.

I called Leatherman today and they said the Wave should not do that at all. They said that those pivots are tightened by a machine and since it is covered by their 25 year warranty can be fixed. I however got it from AG Russell so I will return it for a refund.

I am going to Target and get a new one tonight so I do not have to wait for the return. It is also $10 cheaper there.

Thanks to all for their input!!

Dan

Very Interesting.

I'm glad you got it figured out Dan.

Add a few more bucks and get a Charge, I like it better than the Wave myself.
