Here’s some pics I took at
Lake Fort Phantom. We didn’t have time to go to the Fort itself. What a cool name for a fort eh?

For those of you who’ve never seen it in the wild, those green clumps in the tree behind me are mistletoe. I’d never seen it until I came here. I brought my City Stick to thump the ground to warn the rattlesnakes of my presence. You can also see my SS4 in my right ruler pocket.

Ok, no, I didn’t really do this with my SS4. I found where someone else had been chopping and just posed it there.

Closeup of some mistletoe. If you look closely you can see a wasp nest in the center. I plucked out the nest and brought it home since it was empty.

This dog was waiting by the boat ramp for her owners to return. She looks pretty friendly doesn’t she? That’s what I thought too. She just kept sitting there as I looped around taking pics. On the way back to the truck, I thought I’d talk to her and maybe pet her. I got within about 12 feet and started talking to her. She bared her teeth, and started barking, growling, and running at me. I was glad I had my City Stick. I yelled back, and held out the tip in front of me to keep her away. If she’d kept coming and attacked me, I’d of had to hit her with the heavy end, and/or use my SS4 as those were the only weapons I had on me. If I’d of had my pepper spray, it wouldn’t have done any good in windy west Texas, especially at the lake. It’s ALWAYS windy there because the lake is so big, and there’s little to no trees to block the wind. It would have blown it the wrong way, possibly back into my face even.

This is some bamboo that was growing by the lake. This stuff grows everywhere here.

This is the very spot where I used my CS Bushman to behead the
rattlesnake I caught by hand that I told you guys about. This is where I caught him.
