Looks like I am on call for Federal Jury duty at the Thomas F. Eagleton Federal Courthouse in St. Louis from 2/25/08-3/7/08. At least its nice to know I am not a felon. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I have gone to Jury Duty on a handful of occasions. Lawyers don't like me I guess, I never get picked which may not be a bad thing.

well I'm sure that shirt saying; " Do you know what happens when a lawyer takes Viagra? He gets taller" doesn't help!

If I have to go to one of the Q&A sessions my goal will be to make them not like me. I have better things to do.

The thing that got me at one jury duty deal when I was younger was that the judge did not seem to get that I did not get paid when I was not at work and I could not afford to not get paid. I was making like $8/hr back then. The judge acted like I was nuts for telling him I would lose my apartment if I served, it was the truth. The $4 a day they were springing for each day did not even cover gas.

Luckily I am on Salary, so I will be ok. I just need to be at work more. We have a lady going out on maternity at the same time.

I once served on murder trial. A 20 year old kid who murdered two in a drug deal that failed. We sentenced the kid to sixty years. He'll have to serve at least 30 years in a Texas prison. While it was very tough to dish out such a sentence, no one was more deserving of being taken off the street.

It is up to a jury member to know what jury nullification is and that you have a right to do it. Suppose a man murders his kids molester in cold blood? Even if he is technically guilty the jury has the right to find him not guilty. The judge and the lawyer not only will not tell you this but give you instructions to the contrary because they do not like it.

Jury Nullification is another thing I like about the US like the second amendment.
