I think a trail hawk out of SR77 would be a good thing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

indeed, even if we got the head only, and the handel was a DIY

For a while, these Naval Boarding Axe heads from Jas Townsend & Son seemed to be attracting a lot of attention in the BF: HI Cantina sub-forum. I didn't want to mess with trying to make/fit a custom handle, so I bought a 2-lb Fireman's Hatchet from my local Harbor Freight Tools store instead (it's pretty cool that they opened one locally rather than having to do the mail order thing).

I've got a couple re-handled surplus Forest Service pulaskis, I've got an Ontario SP-16 SPAX as well as a real Air Force Crash Ax. I've got 4 Cold Steel Pole axes (not yet assembled), a Paul Chen Hero's Axe and have thought about buying an Arms & Armor Hungarian Axe so often that I don't know why I haven't yet. So, I'm no stranger to the brute-force attraction of hatchets and axes. However, I would be even less interested in a Scrap Yard hatchet than I would a skeleton knife -- it's just not what I'm looking for out of the Yard.

The Crash Axe is SR-77, so I doubt we’d see a yard version. A lightweight SR77 hawk head would be nice. Or a full size axe head for that matter.

I think another axe wouldn't hurt, after all the chrash axes are hard to come buy and pretty pricey, (though I doubt a scrapyard version will be much less)
so I think it'd be cool to see another one.

.....and if they could incorporate res-c it would be a whole other ball game. scrapyard could make it bigger or smaller or do any number of things so that it wasnt a re-peat of the swamps CA

i also wouldnt mind some type of ratchet.

I don't have a digital camera, so I can't post a quick pic of it. I bought mine at "that auction site" a while back for less than $50; I searched for "crash axe" a couple minutes ago -- nobody's selling any right now, but they do show occasionally. I looked around the web for a picture -- mine's almost identical to this one (but with a little more surface rust):

There are also current productions manufactured by Gemtor; do a web search for "Crash Axe" and you can find them at various fire/rescue supply shops such as this one (I haven't ordered from them, but their prices were the best I found; most sell the non-serrated version for $90.50).
