So what does a military guy have to do to get a knife. I have been carrying RAT's and Beckers and want to try a Scrap yard!! Does anyone have a suggestion? Right now I am using a RAT3 for a small personal carry and a BK7 for a personal defense weapon. I need them to be able to mount to my gear as well as to be durable enough for combat, self defense, prying and chopping.

Sounds like a SS6 would fit the bill! Extremely tough and should excel in all of those task. You can find one on the exchange pretty easy I think. I am sure others will chime in with better advice.

Sounds like you need a Yard Guard. That would fit in nicely between your RAT3 and BK7.

I was looking for advice on which blade and seeing if anyone had other advice on more website options. thanks for the help thus far and I look forward to hearing from everyone else. From what I have seen and read Scrap Yards look to be right up my alley..... might start collecting too!!

You asked about mounting options... Scrapyards don't come with sheaths so you have to have one made for the knife OR you could get the combat master sheath Spec ops makes for the S6

Scrap Yard has two sheaths that are molle compatible. The nylon 6" and the Nylon 10". OF course that will limit your knife choices to a scrapper 6 or a dogfather. If you don't mind the cost of a custom sheath (worth every penny for either one) Rainwalker or Leatherface can make a rig for whatever your needs are. You'd just need to send them a PM.

Welcome! My combat gear setup has a RAT3 or RC3, a Scrapyard Dumpster Mutt, and a (recently acquired) Busse ASH1. I think that the Mutt or SS6 would be good for ya bro - check out the Busse exchange at bladeforums.com, or the Busse Kin Exchange @ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bussekinexchange/

If you're not in a huge rush, just hang around for a while - new releases are coming all the time!
