DL - I quit playing guitar when I went to college (the first time) - there were so many "music majors" that were just amazing guitar players - taking theory classes and all of that. They were a dime a dozen. I became pretty disillusioned and sold my 1/2 stack, my Gibson, and my PA system and flat out quit. When I was in the military a few years later I was able to score some great guitars while I was stationed in Korea and got back in to it again. No point to my story other than I know how you feel regarding "no one to play with" at college (music, anyways! Good Lord, the ladies at college... WOW!) - for as many guitarists as there were, they were all nose in the air "music composition majors" or something like that... Anyways, great looking guitar, I'm sure you'll have a blast.

BTW, my buddy the (extremely talented) drummer picked up guitar after I'd moved away - and is more of a guitarist than a drummer now as well!

talking about music majors, I'm hoping to go into a jazz diploma program next summer, hope it all works out because its gonna be a tough one to get into.

And dl first guitar is always a great time

I just came in to another Elitist recently... Its my present from Uncle George's Economic Stimulus Act! 1/2 of my $$ is going in to the boys' savings, the other half went towards this ridiculously low priced Epiphone Elitist Standard, with a Vintage Sunburst "Plain Top." It got my wife's seal of approval, which was awful nice of her!!

OK - the pix!

Cool thread! I'll put up a few pics of my git-fiddles a little later.

I used to have a picture of an old ('50's) Gibson J-50 that had a bowie knife stuck through the top. My buddy who owned the Gibson had left it laying on the communal dining room table (5 guys shared this farm house) and he and my brother got to horsing around like young bucks do and the J-50 got stabbed. My buddy was livid! I wish I still had the pic...it would be perfect for this thread.

Tango - that would be perfect for this thread!!

I finally got my bottom cab in for my Stack - been on order for a while now... Its my graduation present from my wife and we got a great deal on it (I've hooked up my local shop w/ quite a bit of business from a guitar forum that I frequent). Here's my current setup:

Haha! This thread will never die! Well, I went home for the weekend (back from school) and decided to take a picture of my drums and guitar. Please excuse the mess in my room. I've got to say, I love my drum set and guitar! They help me to keep my sanity. Here they are:

Right on! You can see my old drum set on the first page... I sure miss that thing! I'm a terrible drummer now... I sit down on our drummer's set every once in a while - and it sure isn't anything like riding a bike! Hopefully you're able to keep your chops up even when you're away from your set.
