Yes. The DFLE would be best for that. Of course, it would need a very good edge on it. Any good sharp big bowie could do that.

Why DFLE especially? The only difference I can see between DF and DFLE is the coating ?

Thanks! The LE is 4 ounces lighter than the original DF. It is faster in the hand and less blade heavy. The LE is .25" thick and flat ground. The DF is about .285" thick with a saber grind.

The full flat grind of the DFLE has a shallower angle from edge to spine in addition the uncoated blade will have less drag.

Most of the knifes used in the chopping/cutting contest at Blade 2007 were 1/4" thick and full flat or convex grind. Either DF could do it but there is some technique involved in cutting a free hanging rope.

Thin convexed edge angles would help a lot.
Coating might make it harder for a CG.
DFLE with a very sharp edge and proper edge profiling could definitely do it.

If I'm recalling correctly, there used to be a video on the Busse website of Jennifer Busse using a Busse Battle Mistress E to cut 10 free hanging 1 inch ropes in one swipe. The DogFather is a similar size, shape, mass, geometry, etc. It should be able to do as in the video, easily, in the hands of someone skilled at doing that.
