I don't have any particular insight into the invoice # posting issue, but if it's OK to post those lower than tedwca's invoice I'm guessing that it's probably not a hacker/theft problem.

while we couldnt garner exact amounts sold due to people ordering multiple items we sure could get a much better idea so i figure that is the main reason.the security thing might also be a concern too.my guesses are as good as yours.

sometimes this whole busse thing reminds my of the great pyramids.so many unanswered questions..........

All I know is I was unable to sign in, password expired, but it was fine just before the release. Then when I tried to order without signing in and had the knives in my cart, and tried to pay with paypal, it emptied my cart and all my information and I had to start over. I kept doing this until the DF was no longer displayed on the order page. What a cluster. I was on it as soon as the DF appeared on the order page. It is fine for me, I have a DF and DFLE, but I feel bad for the guys I was ordering for. Moral: NEVER SIGN IN! I never did before and always scored. If you don't sign in, you may mistaken for one of those big time ebay buyers and it goes right through!

It is unfortunate that it was such a small release, I missed out as well but at least I have a DFLE but a lot of the new guys are left holding their ...... Hopefully the next release will be larger and last a bit longer. Dan did say it was a limited number....... Maybe his flu bug spread to his computer and messed up the shopping cart/ordering options.

I always sign in and it really speeds up the check out process. I make sure that I'm signed in before the knife goes up and just never sign out while I'm F5ing. Since I've been in the top 10 if not top 5 on every release since the SS4 it seems to work for me. I do hate when the password expires though, but I give it enough time for that as well.

Probably the most exciting time was when I couldn't log in on one computer and had to switch to another one that wasn't even on and I still managed to be #6 I believe. [color:"black"] Yes, it's true. I was signed in and had items in my cart when the Dog Fathers came up, so that all I had to do was grab the knives I wanted and checkout. The checkout (and I also paid by PayPal) worked flawlessly for me.

I'm certainly not disputing that Vic and some other people experienced problems. I'm also not saying that any of the dogs did anything incorrectly; I know that in a multi-thread, high load volume, web-based environment, it's a huge challenge to prevent concurrency issues and to ensure sessions don't get dropped. The Scrap Yard store load was much higher than normal for a short period last night, and something didn't work properly in all cases.

Vic's description closely mirrors what I did, and since I had no problems, I suspect that other factors were involved. I would guess that an internal Exception handling mechanism was invoked in Vic's case; maybe a shared server resource wasn't immediately available and the accessing method wasn't synchronized. So, all I'm saying is that being signed in might be part of the error condition or it might not -- only someone with a lot of knowledge about how the Scrap Yard store is written and access to the application and system error logs (assuming that the application logs errors), will have a prayer of finding and correcting exactly what happened.
