you've peaked my curiosity.

i thought it might be linked to a medium/low carbon content, looking at infi and sr-77. sr-101, however, is based on 52100 which is way up in the .98-1.1 range. still wanna see 5160 and sandvic come out of Jerry's oven.

I really don't know what more carbon does, or what anything does, like I look at a steel chart and its like chromium,carbon carbide, and all that stuff and i just draw a blank.

i first warn you that if you click you may, as i did, become obsessed. for months on end i was up until 5AM at my computer looking for articles, research, and stories about crystal lattice structure, carbon solubility, impurities, and any writing including the words austenite, martensite, ferrite, pearlite...list goes on.

please start a new thread rather than resurrect these.
