Here's my YKCG after I enlarged the choil. I ground towards the handle to preserve the blades full length, contrary to one of the other YK mods I've seen.

I wasnt very impressed with the factory sheath, its excessively large and kind of sloppy. I slapped this sheath together over the weekend for my girlfriend, who bilked me out of my other Yard Keeper after I forgot about valentines day.

This is only the 4th kydex sheath I've made. It could stand to have a little more material removed beyond the rivets, but aside from that I cant complain with how it turned out. I was gona repress it so the spine of the sheath looks smoother and cleaner, but the retention was [censored] near perfect and it wasnt rattling or scuffing the blade at all, so I decided not to mess with it.

I think I'm going to end up scavenging the factory sheath for its kydex and fastners.

I liked the kydex sheath, once I formed it a little so it fit how I wanted.
I think its on the larger side, because its made to fit the dumpster mutt too.

just a thought though.

Good work on the sheath and on grinding the blade.

I've added a few more grinds on my YKCG......If only the camea batteries weren't dead.

I didnt know the sheath was designed for the dumpster mutt, interesting.

Looking forward to seeing the further mods Bramel. I had planed on grinding the choil from the moment I decided I was gonna buy a yard keeper, but seeing your pictures prompted me to git'er done! Say, did we just void our warranties?

I guess we may have voided the warranty, but.....I've heard of Dan covering some heavily modified knives before. I'm pretty sure the mods that were done will in no way affect the integrity of these knives.....but there's no such thing as a "Sure Thing"

As the late Israeli General Moshe Dyan once said, "Ven I shut von eye, it looks pretty good".

nice mod. i would love to enlarge my choil but am deathly afraid to try. i don't like the factory sheaths at all. i got one for my s6 and it was so tight i'm sure i would rip the belt loops off my pants before i was able to get the knife out of the sheath.

I don't like the factory sheaths very much. Both YK's are great knives. I prefer the thinner one but the LE has some charm for sure.

Mods really make a knife yours. It also makes it less likely you will sell it in a moment of weakness.

Good job on the sheath. Any woman that wants a YK for Valentines Day is a keeper, FYI. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Didn't Moshe only have one eye?

That is a fantastic sheath HD. I would guess a Jeffy model? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I swear that the YKLE did not get any respect until HornDog reprofiled his and started showing it off. Now they still are not quite as popular as the YKCG but
definitly better than the redheaded stepchild status it had before. Partly it is because it is a much improved knife with a thinner edge.
