vic's isn't cuz it's thinner, if that's what you're goin on.
not really goin on that, just never knew it was such a good chopper.
I would have bet (before) that the yardhook or rd7 (well I don't know exactly how well an rd7 chops) would have outchopped it.

they are still changing hands regularly in the $200-$230 shipped range. Mine was about $220 shipped from the store I think. Mine is OD. I like to pet her every day hehe.. I don't feed her enough though. She's taken a few big bites out of my junky chinese pressboard computer desk when I wouldn't take her out.

If you paid that much, I want to know who you know!!!

I thought the CHEAPEST was right under 300.

I think they were talking about ChopWeilers being in the $200-$230 range.

This thread needs a pic or two. So here's my ASH-1, I really love it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I'm with Dice, although I don't have much dirt time with it yet, I really like the size and feel. I'm really glad I got one. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I have my SE in hand, waiting patiently for my CG ASHs. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

They are definitely talking chopweillers in the $200-$230 range. Cheapest ASH1 I have seen was around $300 shipped.

Nah - the RD7 (@7.5") is great, and one of my favorite knives, but the ASH1 has a lot more weight to its blade, even though its a full inch shorter. My money is on the ASH1 outchopping the RD7 and Hook - I'll report back on that once I actually get out to the woods with it, though.

I managed to snag a skinny ASH1 SE on the aftermarket. HD has such good taste in knives you know you can't go wrong with whatever he buys. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
