zdp-189 delica. better to go with a sak/swisstool which has all the other tools, sparing the blade for any task but cutting. maybe a multi blade knife with a serrated and straight blade, one for aggressive cutting to preserve the fine edge for delicate cutting.

If you guys were going to carry a folder with you for a week long trip to Germany what would it be?
The blade cannot be resharpened during the trip and must take general use.
Also sheeple friendly. SAK OHT, if it is legal there.

I think Germany is pretty lax on knife laws, as long as it isnt an auto I should be fine.

by the way, we're all rich men. I wish, now mag and northern talk to me. I know a lot of people hate Dark ops but it is a quarter inch thick with a lock and a sfaty on the lock. I have seen pics of a guy standing on the knife handle with no lock faliure. I have even seen a pic with the knife on it's side and he stood on it to test lateral strength. don't you think this would be a very tough knife? They are very tough knives with excellent locks and handles. Question is, how's the steel perform? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Personally I'd get one, one thing that's holding me back are the serrations. I absolutely hate serrations on a folder. I guess it wouldn't matter on a Fullsize Stratofighter cuz the overall length is 10.25 inches, so the blade is like 4.5 inches or so. Cutting edge is probably around 4.3. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

swiss tool, wave or endura.
mag, i hear you. if the only thing i want is a slicer than my zdp endura and zdp laminated horn are better than any knife i can think of. why do you guys like scrap yard? on most BSA organized camps a fixed blade is against the rules but if i am going to hike out of camp and practice wilderness survival i want a good bush craft knife and a super tough knife. folders are my only choices. i say wave for the saw and tools, a nice spydie slicer and a tank built folder.

I hate seeing the Scouts go PC, but is was bound to happen. Marbles and Western used to make the BSA fixed blades. Fixed blades are safer than folders to use. My old scout master carried a Ka-Bar, and when I was an Assistant Scoutmaster I carried an Air Force pilots survival knife on our camping trips, along with a machete, scout folder, and and axe. What do they do now, bake cookies?

yeah. zt 0302. noss' extrema ratio RAO looks like it could fulfill northern1's wants. if he can live with a tanto. I was thinking that! just saying... but that thing is freaking HUGE.

my kershaw leek, an another awesome toy, came in the mail today. i'm assuming the leek has a break in because the assist seems to be doing better the more i open it.
out of the box sharpness was extremely high. it's hollow ground with an exceptional secondary bevel.
definitely gettin that d2 model.
