Back on topic, pitman's choice of the ratmandu is a good one.
1 The knife is big enough to do light chopping.
2 It is small enough for easy carry.
3 The riveted on G10 handle is very tough. You can beat on this handle or the tang extension without hurting the knife. It is well-shaped and comfortable for extended hard use.
4 The steel is very tough and holds a good edge.
It is an outstanding all-around user.

I know you may find this incredulous, but yes, it just may be the knife I grab when the SHTF and I run out the door with my hair on fire. Can't explain it.

I am saying that pitman's choice of the ratmandu is a least as valid as my choice, the S6. I'd hate to have to choose just one, but the ratmandu would be near the top of my choices, for sure, as would the DMLE. But maybe the chopweiler could be the one do-it-all knife....hmmm. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
