FYI.... Scrapyard is a proud supporter of the armed forces. I emailed Patti last week about the Dog Father that I ordered and asked if they give a military discount to military members and guess what.... they do!! YEA!! 10 percent is better than most companies out there. Scrap Yard is a great company and I am sooo happy that I found them. The knives a perfect for what I do and the forum has the best group of people, by far, than any other forum I am a member of. THANKS SCRAP YARD. You have a customer for life.

As a former tank platoon leader myself, I think it is great that SYKCO offers a military discount to those now serving. We have a heap of veterans here on the forum. I did a hitch in the Air Force and later took a commission in the Army. You guys that are now serving need SY knives more than us old collectors do.

I was 12A
Yeah, my first duty when I got to Germany was acting commander of A Co, 2d Bn, 37th Armored Reg, 2d Brigade, 1AD. The CO was on leave and the XO had an emergency, so the butter bar was in charge! Since I was older and prior service, they gave it to me instead of the other baloon leaders. Didn't have a clue how to run a tank company. But I used the magic words, "First Sergeant" and all went well.

Jforbush,

Glad you found the Yard. It's great to hear from people actively in service and those who need a good tool more than the rest of us.

Keep up the good work!!!

HD,

That's so awesome HD. Had no idea you were in the Military.

My grandfather on my mother's side was in the PLA. He was a 3 Star General. From what my parents tell me, he was also part of the SF.

My great-grandfather on my father's side was also in the PLA. He was a 4 Star General and Prime Minister of Transportation.

My Dad and my brother were career Navy. Grew up on Navy and Marine bases. Naturally, I went Air Force and Army. I went in the Air Force to keep from getting drafted in the Army going to Viet Nam. They told me I would be a jet engine mechanic in the new aerospace team! They sent me to munitions school and then demo training, then made me an Air Commando and sent me to a secret air base doing interdiction on the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos. Liars. Not a single jet aircraft on the base. Just O1s, T-28s, A1Es, A-26s, O-2s, C-123s, and Jolly Green helicopters. Good thing I enjoyed the jungle.

Wow, what an experience.

At least now, you can relax a bit, right? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Horn, it is nice to see a fellow tanker even though you are former Air Farce and a officer!! LOL Just kidding Sir!! you were at least smart enough to know that the First Sergeant was the man!! I am a platoon sergeant and still know that Top is the man of all men.
