...still works like a charm.
Sharpened my YKCG and my Spyderco Pacific Salt tonight. One good thing about coated blades, the edge REALLY shines in contrast to the rest (especially when freshly sharpened).

Both are spooky sharp now. For those that are curious, the YK took a 30 degree angle and the Spydie seemed set up for 25.

Had to super glue a couple of the stones back in their holders before starting. Seems that somehow in the 15+ years of knocking around in the carry case they came completely off.

I have that pocket croc stick sharpener and the dog bone. both lansky products.

i was too cheap to buy a nice sharpener. i learned to do it freehand at the expense of a few low end knives. i eventually bought a belt sander. still cheaper than a manual sharpening system.

I bought a spyderco sharpmaker, and without messing with the factory angles, the highest you can go 20 degrees (40 degrees total). Does anyone find that not obtuse enough for scrappy?

I've been using a Lansky off and on for years, good stuff!
