Like pitman I would like an S7 or chopweiler release in the yard. I would be very happy with S7 steel but I would really like or hope to see dan find some modified infi imagine the S7 size knife in modified infi

how does mINFI compare with sr101? on BF there is a thread were a basic 9 does more than 2700 push cuts with the same portion of the blade! how does sr101 compare?

from what i have read, infi is just in a class of its own.... im partial to the sr77 balde steel bc it is just all balls as far as being tough goes.... the edge retention isnt that of sr101 (which i love about sr101) but i love the just awesome toughness of sr77, so i partial to it... infi is like sr77 and sr101 combined.... its truly in a class by itself....

Actually SR-101 has basically the exact same edge retention and toughness as INFI. The steel gets the exact same heat treat that all INFI gets. The only difference is that it's not stainless and can rust fairly easily.

However, I think SR-101 is slightly more malleable on impact, so that's why SRKW does a differential heat treat on the larger knives (chopweiler, ratweiler, mastiff, etc).

Performance wise on SR-101 and INFI is barely noticeable under normal circumstances.

SR-77 is just ridiculously impact resistant.

But, you could say that INFI is in a class of its own, cuz it is. But then again so is SR-101 and SR-77.

M-INFI is more comparable to SR-77.

The easiest way to put it is, it's SR-77 stainless.

They took out a bit of Cobalt. So the edge retention isn't as good, but has a higher impact resistance. If M-INFI could do 2700 push cuts INFI could do 4000+ push cuts. Jerry did a test some time ago with INFI. Even at 2700 cuts, the knife could still shave. After 4000+ the knife was still very sharp (easily slice paper), not shaving sharp, but Jerry couldn't continue the test because he ran out of rope.

I'm pretty sure it's also cheaper to make Mod-INFI. As most of the European lines were made with MINFI, the Basics. You can see why, international shipping is expensive.

A M-INFI SYK would be great. Price-to-performance ratio would be one of the best. However, getting some M-INFI is gonna be hard.

No problem.

I'd also be rather excited to see a Scrapper 7 or DF in MINFI. It would definitely fit SYKCOs motto of the best price-to-performance ratio.

Try saying it 3 times as fast.

"What you got there, son?"

"MINFIDF!!! MINFIDF!!!"

No seriously, a MINFI DF would be so awesome (we can dream, can't we? ).

MINFIS7 (min-fi-seven)
MINFIS6 (min-fi-six)

MINFIDM (min-fi-dom)

(the -fee- in the middle doesn't work too well )

Hehehhehe, I just love the word "MINFI". It's got a nice ring to it.
