Being a proud owner of the DF, and it being my 1st dog father ,I was wondering the purpose for the space from the handle and cutting edge, how squared off it is and why no Choil like most blades ? I am loving the DF and can not wait for the rainwalker sheath....to house my 2 fav blades DF & DM .thanks for any replies TTD

Technically, I think that it is a choil. It's just not the rounded choil most of us are used to seeing.

dan's square choil kinda surprised all of us when we first saw it.

the point? i think it was just for somethin different. maybe it's cheaper than a round choil. who knows?

whatever, it's definitely an identifying aesthetic characteristic of the df.

I think it just was so it wouldn't look like a Swamp Rat Mastiff.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Somebody pointed out in a thread a few weeks ago, it is a traditional Bowie choil shape.
