Yes,

I've actually had to get new IP addresses several times because the one that I was using wouldn't work with our modem. You can do this manually or as with mine, the computer fixed it automatically and changed my IP address.

I've had a few problems like this too. But, I got all my money back.

Yeah, I don't have one of those. Not an axe man I'm afraid.

I wish you luck contacting the BladeForums management, but I don't think they'll get involved. I contacted them after they'd banned someone I'd just bought an INFIcoot from (and which I'd sent a money order for). The response I received was that if I experience a problem, I can post about it in the Good, Band and Ugly sub-forum, but that they don't have any authority to take action on individual sales.

When I received the INFIcoot with no problems, I wrote again to ask that they reconsider the ban against him; I said that he'd done well by me and passed along that he had been undergoing reconstructive surgery and taking pain meds, so I suggested that they give him some benefit of the doubt on the argument with a Mod that had gotten him banned. Their response was that he'd had his chances and that any extenuating circumstances were irrelevant.

Bottom line, I've had very good luck with the folks I've done business with on BladeForums (although for the most part, that's back when I could search the GBU for positive/negative comments about their prior transactions). However, I've gotten no traction when trying to deal with the BF management; perhaps you'll have better luck than I did.

As far as transactions go, I know that a lot of folks don't like doing business through PayPal, but I'll sometimes use them even when the seller passes along the fees because there's more recourse than with a money order. It's not fast or easy, but I have filed a dispute/claim with PayPal and gotten my money back on a bad eBay transaction.

northern1,

I was one of the guys who got scammed by the guy selling the RD7 on knifeforums. I paid with a Money Order. I put a stop payment on the Money Order, and in 60 days, I will find out if the scammer cashed it. If so, that is Mail Fraud, a federal offense. If you bought the item in question with a Postal Money Order, this is something to consider. It really sucks that there are people out there that pull this crap. I have had countless transactions over the years on BF, KF and AR15.com and this is the first time this has happened.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. I was able, through a little digging, to contact my scammer by phone. Maybe you can do the same.

I personally do not use Pay-Pal due to their anti second amendment stance. I have also known folks who have still been ripped off using Pay-Pal, but overall it is easier and faster to dispute the charges and get your money back with Pay-Pal than it is with a Money Order.
