Horn Dog - is this the knife they are selling tomorrow? Does it have any type of blade coating on it at all? I hope it does... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> No, it has a bead blast finish, like some of the Busse Special Editions.

I knew there was a reason I left the money in my paypal account from missing out on the DF. Now if I can get my fingers to work fast enough this time maybe I can turn this money over to Dan where it belongs. Sure do wish I had a big chopper tho.

you can coat it yourself any color you want with whatever coating you want if you really want one coated.

I haven't done it myself, but has anyone ever used one of those do-it-yourself gun bluing kits, and if so do you think it would be an option if someone wanted to coat one of their DCs?
Personally, unless you're going to be using these in a salt water/swamp/jungle environment, I think wiping it off after use and running a (Sentry) Marine Tuf Cloth every over it so often should be plenty of maintenance to keep your knife purty. I like the Double Cut finish a lot more than coated blades, but I don't need that corrosion protection.

I think this is much ado about nothing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> I have several Gerber blades with the bead-blast finish and have NEVER had a problem with them. Most folks will NEVER have a problem with the finish, just as they will NEVER push their Scrap Yard blades to the limit! So, don't worry - be happy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
