Here it goes:

How much are they going for on seconday. Market?
Is the milling on top the spine standard or custom in some of the pictures I've seen?
Are they generally hard to find?

Just a few questions from a new member of the yard.

Scott

I picked one up on the secondary market for $260 Canadian, S&H included. It also came with a really nice leather holster-style sheath. I've been told by my fellow knife collectors that I got a really good deal; something like what I got typically goes for at least another $100, according to them.

I've been looking for a SS4. Haven't found found one at a price I'm willing to pay. There is always one or two on the secondary market available. The average price is $210.00.

I was lucky enough to be able to pick up the DMDC. I just recently got into the fixed blade arena, pretty new to it. I have a bunch of folders. The DMDC will be my second fixed, first being a RAT 3.

Perusing the Yard, I think I fell in love with the SS4. Looks really handy. I have a BM710 that is around the same blade length, so I know I'll love that aspect. I just love the grips and the uncoated spine. I just have to try and find a way to either trade or sell some of the blades I have to get a SS4. It won't be easy.

On another subject. What would be the best sheath for the DMDC and or SS4. I got the DMDC coming and read that the Spec Ops sheath was good. A bit expensive, anything comparable out there. Sorry for all the questions.

South Side just had their South Side Irish Parade last weekend. Was a blast from what I could remember.

SS4 prices have gone up in the last year. I bought mine on the secondary market for $175 with no sheath a year ago. Leatherface made me a nice tan Kydex sheat for mine. I'm sure Rainwalker can fix you up with a sheath too.

Today $200 looks like a low price and $225 plus or minus a more typical price for an SS4. There is no equivalent blade anywhere for the SS4 IMO. While the Busse Leaner Meaner is INFI and has almost the same blade shape, it has a much heavier tang and slabs. The mudder handle on the SS4 is unique. It makes the SS4 feel almost as light as a Mora in the hand yet you have a knife made of incredibly durable INFI.

I have a Leatherface kydex sheath for my SS4 and a right now it is zip tied to my backpack but sometimes I just stuff it in a pocket. It is a great knife and I would love to see one in 52100.
