So my wife and I manage an apartment complex of 72 girls in a off-campus apartment in a small collage town. We don't have to pay rent (which is a HUGE blessing to us) in return for our servives as managers we do bookeeping, regular matience, shoveling snow, etc. The owners said we would have the job untill I gruated (2010-11?), but just today We found out they are kicking us out some time before the 8 of April even thouh School ends the 10th, and we had to pry that info out of them, I don't know when they "planned" on telling us we were being kicked out. We have always done our job to the best of our ablities despite their lack of helpful assistance.

Check the law, they should have to give you a 30 day notice to vacate. They can fire you whenever in most states, but they can't make you move before 30 days. I'm sure if you wanted you could drag the whole process out for a couple months, but that may make it hard to rent again in the near future. Enforcing the 30 days shouldn't hurt you at all though.

Remember, I'm not a lawyer and I don't even play one on tv, so take that advice for what it's worth.

Major bummer...My wife and I both worked for a large property management co. in the Wash. D.C. metro area,(she still does...I went back to plumbing), anyhow we we usually had to live on-site. The terms of employment will always favor the employer and most often require that you sign an agreement in which there is a clause regarding tenancy, i.e. "yoos gotta leave whenever we tells ya' or we drags ya' kickin' an' screamin', etc., etc.". It sucks...

because we don't pay rent there is no protection that I know of, we called the school (which works realy closely with the housing in this town)and they said there is really no options, and to be honest I would be thrilled to never see or converse with these people again anyways.
