well I know it isn't smart but it is fun, while making curly cues and splitting wood I decided to abuse this knife a little.

now I am done, the bowie is large and nice but there is something I don't like. the saber grind and it is a between 3/16 and 1/4. I think flat ground at 1/4 would be better. the RD9 splits wood much easier and I assume the DFLE would also.

Why in the world would you split wood inside your house?

Your wife should be upset. That's just silly.

So what kind of blade is it that your beating on? RD9?

I'll have to admit, I wouldn't let myself do that in the house.

That's got to be a pain to clean up. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I'd be willing to bet that I know who's going to be cleaning it up though, get to work scrappy! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

yes, we live in an apartment, no yard to do it in. that is an 18 inch linton bowie. it has a shallow saber grind. it is designed to be a machet knife cross over. here is a pic with it and some other camp blades includng the Yard guard and RD9

I could see pounding with a rubber mallet, but man.

how DO you clean that up?
I would do something like that in my garage on the concrete floor but... man.
right there where the toys are?!
seriously, you must have a niceeee vacuum.

Does this remind anyone of the motorcycle in the living room post? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

I'm joking Scrappy. Good post. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Congratulations Scrappy you broke a hammer on a knife. This is great. I haven't done this yet.

I love all the carnage in the apartment<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />this is too funny. Do you think you will get your deposit Back ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Scraphound did you write this or did your significant other? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

That line smacks of a womans touch..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

My first reaction was NEAT!!!! Tyler must have loved Daddy bringing all that wood inside and smashing it up all over the place! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I still think that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

What fun it must have been for the Pink Eyed Tyler to watch Dad smash stuff and make all kinds of noise while he was sick! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Great fun!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

It reminds me of when our Daughter was sick and Mom took out pots and pans and showed her how to create music with the shapes! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

GREAT FUN!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Way to go Terry, that is time well spent with your son! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

Now that it's all over that sure must have been a pain in the arce to get the fine pieces out of the carpet. Being self-employed in the field of cleaning I see that from a real standpoint. And that must have been a real pain.
But at least it was worth it! Great job brother! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Peace.
